Allison Inquiry | Jasmeet Grewal | Day 2 September 9th, 2026
A 35-year-old Toronto business development manager and multi-sport athlete describes leg cramping two months after his second Pfizer dose, being told it was psychological, and then six months in hospital with severe demyelination. He now uses a wheelchair and relies on a feeding tube and IV nutrition, and is appealing a denied compensation claim.
Jasmeet Grewal, 35, a business development manager for an AI company in Toronto, was a fit and sociable athlete who played softball, basketball, soccer and golf and performed in a dance troupe, including at a Raptors halftime show. He received his first Pfizer dose in May 2021 and his second on June 28, 2021. About two months later he developed extreme cramping and stiffness in his legs, followed by tingling, loss of balance and falls. He describes being told by his family doctor and a neurologist that his symptoms were psychological, and an emergency visit that produced a functional neurological disorder diagnosis, before an EMG in April 2022 showed what he says was severe demyelination and led to six months in hospital. He has not walked since and describes lost nerve function in his legs, constant burning nerve pain and hand tremors. About a year after discharge his digestive system failed, and he now depends on a gastrojejunostomy tube and IV nutrition running 12 hours a day, and still vomits every few hours. Grewal says doctors called a vaccine cause a strong possibility but would not confirm it, and his Vaccine Injury Support Program claim was denied. He is appealing and describes submitting 80 to 100 pages of records. He travelled to the hearing by train because his pumps need power.
