Allison Inquiry | Jannine Duffy | Day 2 September 9th, 2026
A 66-year-old grocery cashier who walked two kilometres to work describes a numb thumb after her first Moderna dose, then blue fingers and toes, lesions pushing crystals through her nails, and a second dose after which she could only move backwards. With her daughter Jennifer, she describes wheelchair and walker use, financial ruin and a claim still waiting after four years.
"Jannine Duffy, 66, a grocery cashier and personal shopper who walked two kilometres to and from work and gardened and cooked at home, testifies with her daughter Jennifer Britton, a mother of three and real estate conveyancer who became her caregiver. Duffy received Moderna on May 29, 2021, and her thumb went numb that shift. Over the next weeks she describes growing weakness, blue fingers and toes, a doctor warning she might lose them, and purple lesions that moved to her nails and emerged as crystals with excruciating pain, plus a toe wound that exposed bone for about nine months. She says an ER doctor first raised a vaccine link, and that doctors told her to get her second Moderna dose anyway. Within about two days she says she could not move forward, only shuffle backwards, and she describes shaking, burning feet, six months in a wheelchair, and hips destroyed by poor circulation. Britton describes the hundreds of hours in emergency rooms, financial ruin, her mother's lost job and isolation, and the value of an advocate. Duffy says her injury claim filed in August 2022 has 111 pages and no timeline. She also speaks of the loss of her son and of losing benefits at 65. MPs question them. Recorded at the Allison Inquiry, Day 2, September 9th, 2026. For more information, including the full list of witnesses and experts, go to allisoninquiry.com.
