Allison Inquiry | Dr. Crystal Luchkiw | Day 3 September 10th, 2026

A palliative care doctor testifies for her brother Scott Gorrie, a 48-year-old Parliament Hill aide and father of two who collapsed with a cardiac arrest at his kids' baseball game months after two vaccine doses. She describes severe myocarditis, repeated defibrillator shocks, a refused transplant, and his choice of comfort care.

Dr. Crystal Luchkiw, a family physician, hospitalist and palliative care doctor, testifies for her brother Scott Gorrie, who died on July 4 at 48 and had wanted to testify himself. Scott was a big, warm parliamentary aide, most recently for MP Doug Shipley and before that for MP Blaine Calkins for almost a decade, and a father of two young children, Caleb and Olivia. Luchkiw says she discussed the vaccine with him because he needed it for his job. About four weeks after his first dose in spring 2021 he fainted at home, and she says emergency doctors told him a vaccine link was highly unlikely and did not check his heart. A cardiologist later called it highly unlikely and cleared him for a second dose, and she says an echocardiogram later showed impaired heart function, although a 2019 echocardiogram was normal. On September 10, 2021 he collapsed at a baseball game with his children nearby, was revived with CPR and a defibrillator, and at the Ottawa Heart Institute was found to have severe myocarditis with about 10% heart function. She describes his defibrillator firing repeatedly, including 31 shocks in one day, progressive heart failure and kidney congestion, a transplant team that questioned his diagnosis and declined him, and his death after choosing comfort care over dialysis. She says about ten doctors and the Vaccine Injury Support Program recognized his injury, but the award was minimal. She says her own licence has been suspended since 2021 after objecting. MPs remember Scott and ask what justice looks like.
