Allison Inquiry | Adam Burgess | Day 3 September 10th, 2026

Adam Burgess testifies about his 36-year-old sister Kristi, a Yukon woman with lupus who collapsed six days after her second Moderna dose and died of an intracranial hemorrhage. He describes the wait for an ambulance and medevac, a family kept apart by COVID rules, and a compensation review that called her case inconclusive.

Adam Burgess, 40, an equipment operator from Spruce Grove, Alberta, testifies about his sister Kristi Burgess, who was 36. Raised in Teslin, Yukon, Kristi worked with juvenile offenders on a parole board, loved yoga, paddleboarding and travel, and had lupus and kidney issues that fluctuated but did not slow her, he says. She received her second Moderna dose on April 12, 2021 and, Burgess says, collapsed in a bathroom at home on April 18, where his youngest sister found her unresponsive. He describes a long wait for an ambulance, limited hospital visitation, roughly eight hours before a medevac to Vancouver, and being told her prognosis was not good. She was declared unable to recover and became an organ donor, while the family grieved apart under COVID restrictions. He says a doctor wrote that the cause of her intracranial hemorrhage could not be certain but that mRNA vaccines can cause it in people with lupus, other doctors agreed, and the compensation program's administrator later called the case inconclusive after years of document requests. He also describes his mother being refused a quarantine exemption, his wife's employer requiring vaccination during her twin pregnancy, and his loss of trust in institutions. He says he wants his sister's story on record.
